Use of Arnica

Hi All,

This post may be in the wrong place, so please feel free to move me!

I make my own aromatherapy creams/lotions for use in massage and I would like to incorporate some arnica for its pain relief properties. I know the oil is toxic, so can anyone please tell me what strength tincture I could use and how much it should be diluted for use in 30g of base cream?

It's great that you are making your own products. I have been doing so for a while and my clients love it

You can buy an Arnica Macerated oil from good oil suppliers - this is not toxic. Arnica as a plant is, but as it is macerated into an oil it contains the muscle relieving properites without the toxcitity. Using the oil will make the cream richer, if you use a tincture it makes the cream dryer due to the alcohol content. If you still want to know what quantity of tincture to use please let me know. (have to dig around to find my alternative recipes!)

Thank you so much for your reply. I used some calendula oil instead, so I will definitely get some arnica oil for the next batch I make. If you ever want a recipe for massage wax (less sticky in hot weather), please feel free to PM me.
