i bet the producers of that piece were all fat, ugly, nagging wives! i've never seen more conjecture and editorializing in my life. i love the sound bites from the soccer moms saying how plush is ruining the neighbourhood too. if anyone knows anything about that strip of dundas they would know that it's been a shit hole for the past 10 years. sorry you over paid for your house honey, but it's not plush's fault.

if they are going to shut down spas in the the city, when are they going to hit the bathhouses? i'm no doctor, but the amount of stds that are spread in those places probably eclipses spas by at least 500%. but knowone gives a shit about that. partly i guess 'cause it's a gay issue, but partly because it would be percived as bigotry.

the next part should show one of the 'out of country' mpas they mentioned driving by in a lexus. i guess they aren't all exploited after all.

they said that one spa was charged with operating as a "body rub parlour", however I'm pretty sure that I've been to a few spas whose licences refer to them as a body rub parlour... hell even SRM has "body rub parlour" on their front sign.... what am I missing here?

Toronto has a limited number (25) of $10,000 body-rub licences. The rest of the MPs either have no licence at all, or the much less expensive 'holistic' licence intended for shiatsu, aromatherapy, etc., not body-rub. See the explanation of the two different types of licences listed beside the article in The Star earlier this year.

Mayor Miller on CP24 last night said he had never heard a good explanation of what exactly the 'body-rub' designation meant, saying it was created long before he was on the scene.

The implication that there is a right or wrong type of municipal licence allowing MPs is incorrect, since they're all illegal bawdy-houses under the criminal code.

One of the most interesting parts of the City News item on Tuesday, September 20th was the comment that Toronto is earning cash from prostitution.

The argument goes this way: IF the massage parlours, spas and the like ARE brothels and the city gets advertising cash from the litter containers -- many of which advertise spas, "therapy" and outright massage centres -- then the city is "cashing in" on illegal activity. The reporter noted that papers that accept spa advertising (duh, which ones don't!!!) are equally as guilty but aren't as much of a concern because they're private businesses rather than feeding the public coffers.

How you'd lilke to sit in on THAT court case???
