i am collecting army gear and have either all or most of the actual army gear and am now working on the more personel and/or private items that soldiers would carry and would have in their gear. the only sorce i have found for what soldiers carried is from a vietnam vettern so i am hoping things have not changed much

Depending on where you are, your mission, and your MOS, it's better to have actual letters delivered snail mail...

but in my day, we didn't have laptops ans Internet

Bootcamp, you have never been to Iraq. Why you answering?

Iraq is relatively stable for mail coming in near daily and the net is pretty stable as well. Sand storms seem to be the most disrupter of net recently; better than river cities disrupting it. People access their facebooks, aim, email and shop online there. Remember, nothing will ever replace a letter/card in your hand. Email is great, but a hand written letter is preferred in the end.
