Who introduced baseball to Taiwan? America or Japan?

Baseball is quite popular in Taiwan. I was just wondering if the game was introduced from the USA, or via Japan.

Japan. It started when Taiwan was a Japanese colony and the players were all Japanese for the first 15 years or so of baseball in Taiwan.

Although more recently, the New York Yankees have been helping them build a minor league system and increase interest. In return, the Yankees have been allowed to scout Taiwan, which is where they got Chin Ming Wang. The Yankees also gained more international fans, a major source of revenue for them.
