WHY do Boys give such short responds on AIM & other chats?

why do they give you such short answers when they i.m. you?? he i.m.ed me first & then i tried flirting but i felt like he was serious & giving me short answers. but he imed me first! he also is sick right now, but stilllll idk. so yeah, my question is why do boys respond with such short answers while iming you? i can't tell if he's annoyed with me or what.
also- if i gave him my number last night while iming him then why did he i.m me again instead of texting me?

well as for the instant msg over texting, its more because he the conversation is fast, texting can take a bit while with IM you can send 10 times as many msgs in half the time, but as for the short msgs i would say its cuz hes sick, whenever i talk with anyone, guy or girl i send longish msgs, the only time i dont is when im distracted by something, so i would say that the reason he didnt say much was probably because he wasnt feeling well and may have been distracted by something, so in truth its good that he was able to say as much as he was, but i would keep trying, it is kinda difficult to read a persons emotions from a non verbal convo. good luck

I don't know. Usually when I give a short answer I really just don't want to talk to her or at least not at this time.
