Friday will be a big day for Tara Currier as she hosts a open house for her newly expanded business in its new location. Milk and Honey Medicinals Massage Therapy and Yoga opened its doors last week in the upstairs of the Oakland Auditorium on Oakland's Main Street. The open house will be held on Fri., May 26th from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Tara will be available until 1:00 p.m. that day for those who might want to visit more. Geraldine Peterson is providing cupcakes and cookie bars and the Oakland Chamber of Commerce will provide fresh fruit.
Currier, of Bancroft, has been a nationally certified massage therapist since 2003 and has made a name for herself over the years serving clients all over Northeast Nebraska. Although appreciative of her former landladyโs at various locations, Currier is really excited to have her own space now. That space allows her to offer new programs and classes and helps avoid scheduling conflicts for her massage sessions.
The City of Oakland was happy to find a tenant for the space and asked Currier if she would consider offering free classes once a month to benefit the community. Her first class will be held on Tues., May 30th at 7:00 p.m. The topic will be, โWater at the First Medicine.โ Other educational classes on wellness and nutrition will be held on the last Tuesday of the month.
In addition, she is pleased to be able to offer wellness yoga classes for a nominal fee. Classes are one hour in length and focus on mobility and involves more stretching with fluid movement. โThere are no difficult poses to hold and I encourage participants to only push themselves as hard as they chose to.โ
Classes are open to folks of all ages and yoga mat, bolster and water bottles are provided. Offered four times a week, drop ins are welcome and multi class packages are available. โYou do not need to be there for every class and your purchased classes do not expire,โ Currier said.
The benefits of massage therapy are what brings a sense of fulfillment to Currier.
Having worked in a machine shop for years, her family and friends encouraged her to consider massage therapy as they believed she had a healing touch. It wasnโt until she began school for massage therapy did Currier realize the same. She has found that massage therapy has allowed her to give something special to those who take advantage of her healing touch. Recalling an incident with a client in his 80โs, Currier gets a bit choked up when she realizes just how powerful massage therapy can be. โI tell all of my clients to expect to feel worse the day after a massage but the next day they should really feel the good effects of the massage,โ Currier recalls. True to form, the elderly gentleman relayed to Currier that he didnโt feel too good the next day. โHe called two days later and said he has never felt this good in his life! It is those little things that touch my heart.โ
Additionally, Currier also enjoys working with special needs clients and loves the feedback they give.
Considering herself an all-natural organic kind of girl, Currier is pleased to also offer some of her own all-natural skin care products and herbal teas.
Be sure to come welcome Tara Currier to her new location on Friday morning from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in her new location upstairs of the Oakland city auditorium.
