Cannot believe it was back in October that I wrote up Wellspring.
Where does the time go?
I visited Wellspring this week. What a difference a few months makes.
I noticed a folding sign outside with hours listed (a la the exterior folding sign at Superior Health Clinic). New to me.
Upon entry, I was greeted by a friendly younger receptionist with accented but smoothly-delivered English.
Her intended role here I guess is to act as go-between to help drop-ins interact with the staff who give the massages, who all speak minimal English.
I had an hour long foot massage from middle-aged Lisa, who was in good, slim shape and did not stint on smiles, or pressure during the treatment. 10/10 for the effort and attention.
She tried to make small talk but her English was not very strong. I paid $55 for the hour, plus a tip for Lisa.
I observed one other lady working, who seemed to be around same age/slim build as Lisa.
In my experience, if you're looking for a foot massage, this continues to be a reliable spot for that treatment. (I noticed an older Chinese gent entering as I was leaving, so maybe this spot has some community cred in that respect?)
As for what else may be available, I'll visit again and report back.
The receptionist at the desk gave the set up more of an almost-legit feel, but as we all know - you only really know by going behind the closed door.
Final note -- I have had a soft spot for foot massages here since during COVID, when the facility operated under another name and seemed most days to be staffed by a single, solitary attendant - that was big, thick, strong Cici, who laughed loudly all the time and loved to kid and joke, and who was known to make unwary men almost cry thanks to the pressure of her foot massages. Her body massage was great too.
(Cici is still working, I believe, but no longer at Wellspring, unfortunately. She's drifted south to one of the spas at Kennedy and Sheppard in that packed little strip mall on the NE corner. Still as strong and thickly built as ever when I saw her earlier this year. A shorter version of Sophie from LH Spa on Bayview, but a little more ready than Sophie to use her full massage pressure power.)
