What don't you like about it? I have to tell you, Biofreeze got me through today. At the end of my first hour, I was stretching my client's arms over his head, when my feet slipped and I landed right on my bottom! Startled me more than anything, as far as I can tell I am OK... luckily I had half an hour break and iced, and after the next session (half hour) my back felt like it was starting to spasm and I applied the Biofreeze from occiput down the spine. 5 minutes later it didn't hurt at all and it was probably good that I was able to stay moving for so long after falling. So far, so good.I've used Biotone Polar Lotion for years and Pevonia Tension Relief Gel when the spa was getting it and I don't think either works as well as the Biofreeze. I've been using Aveda Active Composition a good bit here lately too. It is mildly analgesic like the others and has a warming component along with the cooling... kinda neat.

If it is salicylates or phenols you are concerned about, I stumbled across this ( http://www.ashamassage.com/brfontsize3thestorefont/item.nhtml?profile=brfontsize3thestorefont&UID=102 ) while doing some investigating to find out which Atlanta school is advertising in the "Looking for Bodyworkers" area of the forum. I don't know anything about this "T-Mint" product and can't seem to find it elsewhere but it looks interesting.

Usually when I want cold I reach for some stones I keep in the freezer, especially for contrast treatment with the hot stones. I only got the Biofreeze recently because so many people have asked about it... they get it from their MDs and DCs. I've been eyeing those Cryo Stims but I really do prefer something natural-feeling in my hand.

Hi all,Terra, T-mint is wonderful. I can tell you from using both in and out of class (I graduated from ASHA) that it is anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and mildly anagelsic. Really great stuff to use after a day of 5 or more clients.Red

I have found that biofreeze is the best product out there.  My practice is in my fathers buisy chiropractic office where we see on average 500 patients a week.  Our chiropracters and myself use it very often because it gets so cold plus it has the added advaneforum.xxxe of the dissapearing scent.

Try this: put the biofreeze tube that you use for clients in the fridge (or a small cooler, etc). It's very hot where I live (108 today!), so I do this for the sheer sensory experience. However, I found that by chilling the biofreeze, the scent is decreased. I give away the small foil sample packets to promote sales of the product & I always tell my clients to store in the fridge for add'l effect.Jill/Sagetherapist

Areas worked deeply can become red and irritated, bringing lots of blood and lymph to the muscle group, and I've found that biofreeze is great as a mild vasoconsricter. Try this....before and after applying biofreeze, take a mister with alcohol, water and essential oils, like Lavender, lemon, or eucalyptus...and lightly spray the area. This cuts through the oils applied during deep tissue massage, then adds an extra "frost" ONTOP of the biofreeze. I feel that it gives a "push" to the biofreeze to cool the area. I make up these spray bottles in small amounts, essential oils aren't able to hold their therapeutic properties in alcohol for very long. Also, the misters are plastic and essentials become seforum.xxxnant in plastic containers.

That is such a great idea, and you inspired me to come up with a new 'add-on' service for our hot, Arizona summers. I had been wanting to add a treatment for tired, swollen legs & feet. Maybe an extra 10 bucks and 10 minutes to the regular bodywork. I will start with a steam compress that has aromatic essential oils, then a cooling aloe gel with stimulating essentials added (like peppermint/rosemary blend, etc), do warming/relaxing then invigorating massage with a citrus lotion blend, apply biofreeze, then add the "frost" before covering the legs & soothing with compressions over the towel & rocking. I am mid-scheming right now on this, but it is really inspiring me. What to call it? Guys, help me brain storm & I'll share my results with you in  case any of you would like to add it to your services.  BTW, they do make aluminum and dark glass bottles for the mist concoctions that might better serve the essential oils' life span. I recognize RedHands as a name I have seen there also. ** Waves **And I have to agree, Biofreeze is my favorite product. I do use a similar product called Extra Cold Cool Pain Relief from Lotus Touch, made by New Life Systems in MN. This is a new product for them. The original Cool Pain Relief was good. But the Extra Cold is a bit more similar to Biofreeze, though still remaining a lotion.www.newlifesystems.com or 1-800-852-3082 - Nice catalog, friendly and helpful staff!  Best part is they understand the spa/massage business! I use their oil gel as my carrier oil for massage, and it is the best massage oil I have ever used. They have a great deal on an intro offer to their Lotus Touch line of products.Happyhands, I find the smell of the Cool Pain Relief more "sweet" than Biofreeze. It could be just that the alcohol in the Biofreeze is offensive to that client. Such a person may have trouble with perfumes and colognes as well. I know, I have one in my immediate family.I have also used Sombra (recommended by a local DC) in the past, but wasn't fond of the fact that it is only sold in a jar. All those cross-contamination issues... Sombra seemed to get both very cold and very hot, but has a neat Citrus-y scent. I think it might be more of an "acquired taste". I also have used Biofreeze on myself, to get me through a hard day.  But if I could only have one cold therapy product... It would be Biofreeze ... hands down.

http://www.Massagewarehouse.com and http://www.Scripmassage.com both offer SOMBRA pain relieving gel. It has a citrus scent, very pleasant. It has capsaicin, camphor, and menthol in it. Good stuff :}

Bodymovers,Sombra is a nice product as well. And I actually like the scent.  My problem with it of course is the cross contamination issue. I'd probably be more likely to use it if they put it in a tube.

I just use a disposable stick (like a waxing stick), I wish they had a tube, too!! Would prob sell better :}

I sell it as is... in the tubs. But for professional use, I empty one or two into a lotion pump bottle. Know what you mean about worrying over cross-contamination. My clients love the smell of Sombra, and lots of them know of it from work with Chiropracters. It is extremely effective when you add a heated wheat sack over the top after you move on to another limb or body part.Jill/Sagetherapist
