China had a exit clause from the Phase I USA trade deal. China would not be held to their part of the deal if there was an Act of God such as a Pandemic. They signed this trade deal in mid December 2019. Coronavirus was already circulating in China late November 2019.

Bill Gates is right - a fully tested vaccine or anti-viral medicine will not be available and widely deployed for another year or longer. So we are stuck with a pandemic that makes 20% of people infected very sick and kills between 1% to 4%. Even if you can stomach the death rate you will still have large numbers of very sick people who will overwhelm healthcare systems - people who will survive if treated will die unnecessarily if treatment is not available. Social distancing reduces the burden, saves lives, buys time, but the economic cost is huge. Without social distancing the economic impact would be much greater. If testing was available to everyone then it would be much safer for people with negative tests to return to work and normal commerce. Wide spread testing is the best stop gap until a vaccine is ready. But as you can see on this forum it is a hard sell. A lot of people are deeply suspicious of all government and of vaccines. The fact that a Bill Gates video was edited leads some to conclude something nefarious is going on. Many people resent and are suspicious of any kind of tracking and tracing. Compelled testing and vaccination will get a lot of opposition, so when it is introduced it should be voluntary. Some people are just contrarians who will never listen to reason and will always complain when inconvenienced.

I used to really enjoy conspiracy theory - it is really entertaining - but it is a world full of crackpots and charlatans, and unfortunately it is sometimes correct so you cannot dismiss it all out of hand. I do not think the COVID-19 virus was deliberately deployed. I do think there are unscrupulous people, politicians and governments who are taking advantage of the pandemic. I think we are at greater danger from government inaction and incompetence, and regular people who are sloppy in their personal care. I do not think Bill Gates is part of an evil cabal who wants to kill 80% of the world. I do think he is a multi-billionaire who wants to keep growing his money and at the same time is trying to absolve himself of his sins by doing good things.

As for being a slave, anybody who has a mortgage and job they do not like, already feels that way. Compelled testing and vaccination would add to those feelings.

I got turned off by conspiracy theory when I finally got off my lazy ass and started checking out references and sources in detail. I found a lot of stuff quoted out of context and straight lies.
The issue with COVID-19 is the virulence - if left uncontrolled it spreads like wild fire.

It may be time to start taking all forms of flu seriously.
