Clothes and shoes to work in -

I was just wondering what everyone enjoys wearing to work. I'd like some variation in my wardrobe and want to know what others wear. Thanks.

I wear a t-shirt with my business name/logo printed on it, and jeans. Frequently I wear khaki or other colored (dressier looking but still comfortable jeans!) jeans. I have several t-shirts I made for work, some with a v-neck (not deep!) and some more traditional t's, of varying colors. I also have a few long-sleeved t's that I wear if it is very cold or the work will be very easy, but not very often, as the sleeves get in the way!

My question is what to wear to the presentation I am going to do next Wednesday!!! I want to look dressy, but then I'll do some demo work and need those clothes to comply! Maybe I can dress up my green jeans and get a stretchy dress shirt?

I think black jeans looks "dressy" but most any color I would think would look good, with maybe a stretchy print (jersey-like) shirt with a belt might be nice.

I love black and white - very classic and professional (but boring after a while!). I wear short sleeve polo shirts or t-shirts most of the time. I never wear long sleeve shirts because they do get in the way, even 3/4 length ones do which I occasionally wear but roll up before the session.

What do you wear for shoes? I've been wearing my black merrills all winter - very comfortable but I want some variety. I wear running shoes some times with wind pants, but they make too much noise when I move.

I wear black yoga pants and a light blue v-neck t-shirt. My "uniform" of many years. Very comfortable and they hold up well.

Shoes - in the summer I wear my Dansko sandels. In the colder months I wear running shoes during out-calls.
I don't tend to wear shoes when working at home. I have trouble wearing shoes (hurt my feet) and I am much better off not wearing them. Nicely enough - my clients don't mind.

Normally I wear cross-trainers, but I do have some black flats that are pretty comfortable for the presentation.

I love black jeans - I seem to have outgrown mine. I'm due for new jeans, though.......good idea. I love multi-purpose clothes, and black jeans just about do it all!

I usually wear black yoga pants and some sort of t-shirt.....solid color and long or short sleeve, depending on the season. As for shoes, in the colder months I usually wear my Dansko professional clogs, though I did just get some slides from Simple that I just love. Summertime I'm barefoot.

Are yoga pants cooler in summer? Sometimes the jeans do get hot, but I can't bring myself to wear shorts.

Jeans do get hot to work in, so in summer I usually wear cotton capri's (I don't feel comfortable in shorts, either). I'd like to find comfortable sandals for the summer.

Yes yes yes to the Yoga pants.
I used to wear scrubs and sometimes I will still wear the scrub top which has my business name on it.
I usually wear a V neck knit top or polo.
The yoga pants idea came from these boards if my memory serves me.
They were from LL Bean onsale. I have bought several pair.
Once on vaca I forgot them and got another brand, also yoga from either Target or Walmart. Bootcut and fit NICELY.
I prefer the "give" of the Yoga pants when I am bending or kneeling.
Although they are knit/spandex"y" they are not too tight. I think it;s the bootcut.
For shoes it's usually always a good quality cross trainer.
I have tried barefooted massage but didn't care for it.

I bought some black yoga pants from Target last month I think the brand was Pro Spirit...
I wanted something new to go to my CE in... they were super comfortable... and let me tell you Bob King showed us this piriformis stretch that left you feeling vaguely like a pretzel... LOL
Then when we were there he said, "If you can, come in shorts tomorrow." And we're like dude, it's February in Wisconsin! And then there was the whole fact I was 4 hours drive from home... but the legs were roomy enough to push up above the knee.
I have a bunch of white polo shirts I bought last fall on clearance also from Target, and I recently bought a couple black long sleeve slight v-neck t-shirts from there too. So yeah, guess I tend to dress in black and white too. Though I do have days where I wear stretch jeans and a polo shirt with a little bit of color. LOL :wink:

I make my own t-shirts w/my logo & business name with iron on transfers. That way I can choose my t-shirt. I love colors, lots of different colors. Right now I have one in sage green, one in white, one in lilac, one in teal........pink, mauve and gray, too! I pick up t-shirts on clearance for $3 each. I had a black t-shirt and I liked it, but had to use the white iron-on transfer paper and that does not last as long!! The others last - the logo looks great 2 years after the first one was made. I also pick up Hanes sweatshirt jackets at Walmart for $3-5 this time of year, and do the same with my logo. Those make great gifts when something needs to be donated. Rather than donating massage gift certificates.....I found myself really not liking where I ended up, once ...... I now donate a gift bag with a jacket or t-shirt (depending on the season) candle w/my logo and bath salts packaged in a bag printed w/my logo. It has gone over great, and doesn't put me at risk. And when someone besides me wears my logo around town...that's advertising for me, for under $6!!

I cant believe all you guys where jeans. Not that I care at all, but they were outlawed in massage school, they claimed they made too much noise when you walk in them. And I have massaged at four different places varying from corporate spa, independent spa, and a chiro, and jeans were never allowed.
p.s. I go barefoot even though thats not really allowed either.

Jeans make noise? :shock: And wind pants don't? :shock: I know you didn't say you wear wind pants, but I've seen LOTS of MT's wear them, and they ARE noisy. I think someone here mentioned wearing them, too.

My jeans don't make a sound - I just checked. We weren't allowed to wear them in massage school. We had to wear dress pants - and not knit stretch!! We had to "look professional" - but khaki's don't "give". It was miserably uncomfortable. We wore dress pants, polo shirts buttoned all the way up :roll: and cross trainers. Somehow the tennies ruined the look they were going for, but at least they were concerned about our feet.

Because we are regulated as health care in WI, barefoot & sandals are also not allowed. We have to wear "whole shoes". I've seen lots of sandals, though. And Ah-Shiatsu IS allowed, so they must be willing to make exceptions for the shoes.

As a male therapist i wear black trousers, and a blackpolo type shirt and black MBT runners. Have had a suggestion to wear a white shirt, but white and I don't get on together. As soon as i put it on dirt appears from nowhere and it looks grubby

I second the LLBean pants, boot cut! Just bought another pair, although I think I could wear them everyday for anything...they fit well and wash well.

*raises hand* Another MT in black yoga/sport pants. Always with a sleeveless solid color polo shirt, usually black. I always wear a glob of massage creme on my upper arm to keep it handy and warm so sleeves so don't work for me... and I am vertically challenged so polo sleeves are too near my elbows.

I have a few polos by Ralph Lauren with shorter sleeves. And there was one style similar to that in the Lands End catalog that I was looking at today. I prefer the shorter short sleeved polos. The regular polo sleeves make me feel old and frumpy. (Not that there is anything wrong with being older) I hope I'm not digging a ditch here! t100 I will also wear solid colored T-shirts from time to time.

I vary my pants. I love yoga pants and cords!!! I like, I mean love clothes and I want what I wear each day to match whatever mood I may be in.

We wear scrubs to work. It just doesn't get any more comfortable than than. The 1st time I wore them, I felt like I was walking around in my PJs.

I also have fun with mine. Today I wore my winnie-the-pooh scrub top.

It's comfortable, relatively cheap and durable. Plus, there's the up-side that no one is going to confuse us with sex workers.
