The article used the word “conspiracy” as satirical and a dig at the conspiracy theorists. It is endorsing the actions of Americans (from all sides) for standing up to Trump and in doing so for standing up for Democracy.Trump attacked Democracy and the election process. The real conspiracy was Trump and his team co-ordinating an attack on democracy and the democratic process. People organized against him and said “No!”. The manner of that organization was different than in the past, due in part to the coronavirus, and this is what the article talks about.

So in their attempt to “disprove” there was election meddling and fraud, Time magazine came out and boasted about how a well funded “Cabal” of powerful people, all across the media, Big Tech, and other industries worked together to influence opinions, change rules and laws to make election manipulation easier, steer media coverage and control the information people see (Hunter Biden's laptop is "Russian disinformation" so we'll just conveniently censor that), and pressure platforms to remove content and accounts that went against anything they were trying to do.

They admitted that they were prepared to start nationwide left-wing riots if Trump claimed victory in a close election, and the author also states that this "Cabal" made sure there were counter-demonstrators (there’s video of Antifa dressing up as Trump supporters at the rally) at the Capitol January 6th to ensure Trump would be blamed for what happened.

So they're telling you they weren’t “rigging” the election, oh no...they were simply guaranteeing the outcome they wanted...Guaranteeing the outcome they wanted...Sounds an awful lot like rigging the election.

So a Left leaning publication comes out and admits that the conspiracy to rig the 2020 election wasn’t a conspiracy at all and was in fact real, many of the most powerful people in America were by definition conspiring behind the scenes ("even though it sounds like a paranoid fever dream" implying it wasn't) and you somehow spun all that into them "standing up for Democracy". That's impressive!

Elections are, and always have been, about campaigning and organizing. Do some research on the evolution of getting people to turn out the vote. While you are at it, research gerrymandering and how Republicans have tried to reshape districts in their favour

The article is stating that while a Trump was attacking Democracy, he was not going to accept any other outcome other than his own win. Trump was systematically undermining the democratic process. The article is saying that, in part due to the coronavirus, liberals and moderates discovered new ways to organize and get people out to vote. Likewise, people were getting sick and tired of Trump so they all came out to vote.
