A “survival rate” means you have to have survived something you were exposed to. It excludes the population of people who were not exposed to it. The example I used in another thread is when someone who never went and fought in the Vietnam War claims to be a Vietnam War survivor. No, it doesn’t work that way. You only count the soldiers that went and fought.

How many Germans survived Hiroshima? All of them because Hiroshima is in Japan. How many people living in condos in Downtown Toronto who have never travelled outside the city in their life survived a shark attack? All of them because they’ve never been to the Ocean. How many people who have never been shot are gunshot wound survivors? All of them. See how stupid it is to include non-relevant populations in a statistic and how misleading the result is when you do?

People who claim a 0.05% survival rate are using the entire population even though only 300,000 or so have actually contracted Covid. They are either really stupid or are purposely manipulating the numbers to tell a story they want to tell. But, 98% of the population never even contracted Covid so they haven’t “survived” it and need to be excluded from the calculation. Don’t focus on that stupid piechart but the math directly below it where they even say deaths with Covid is 2.43% and they show the calculation.

You’re not factoring in the people who got Covid and never knew they had it. I’d bet there are thousands.

Looks like the 0.5% death rate is the mean across all age groups. It’s inaccurate to apply the death rate amongst the elderly, to everyone. The fatality rate estimate outside of long term care homes is 0.2%.

Of course, this is from February, so it may be a little off.

The argument on the PCR tests is the cycle threshold. Many doctors, even Fauci, said that anything over 25-30 is too sensitive. You are making the same mistake every one else is. You are including irrelevant population pools in the math. Not all 330M Americans have contracted Covid, only 10% of the population even caught it. You don’t include those that never contracted Covid in the denominator of an equation when assessing the percentage of people that die from the disease (deaths / cases).

33.4M Americans have contracted Covid (only 10% due to social distancing, mask wearing and other mitigation procedures). The 1.8% is 0.6M dead divided by 33.4M cases. It’s the “Case Fatality Rate”.

One cannot die from it if they never got it to begin with. One cannot claim to be a Cancer survivor if they never had cancer.

Another way to think about is if your 0.2% rate is accurate what was it months ago (0.1%) and a year ago (0.05%). Why does that percentage keep going up and up rather than remaining somewhat static? The answer is the death rate is rising with the number of people catching it. 10% have caught it now, 5% months ago and 2.5% a year ago. When that 10% climbs to 100% then that 0.2% will climb as well (up to close to 2% (or the 1.8% we’re talking about already)). If the entire population of the US contracted Covid then a straight-line extrapolation of that 600k dead would bring total deaths up to 6M+ If the 10% of the population that caught Covid grows to 100%. But the Case Fatality Rate (1.8%) remains quite static even as the infection rate grows. At 10% infections it’s 1.8%, at 5% infection rate it’s 1.8%, at 15% infection rate it will be around 1.8%

Between asymptomatic people who never even knew they were ill, people with very mild cases who never bothered to be tested, and even others who were sicker but were never tested for various reasons, an enormous number of people have had covid are not counted amongst the official case statistics.

To calculate the actual death rate of Covid you need the total number everyone who has been infected. That number is in many ways precisely unknowable, but it is much much higher than the number of official cases, meaning the real death rate is accordingly much lower.

Dividing the number of deaths by the number of officially diagnosed cases gives us the case fatality rate (CFR), but it's actually the infection fatality rate (IFR) which is the true measure of a disease's lethality.

This is the very same reason we would never calculate the death rate of the flu by using government statistics of flu deaths and diagnosed flu cases: the number of undiagnosed flu cases is way higher than the number of officially diagnosed cases.

All vaccines warn of potential side effects, not just the covid vaccines. Almost 200 million Americans have received one dose and the stats you've provided show that the vaccines have been successful and the side effects are minimal. So you're absolutely right, there is nothing to worry about.
