Yeah, but shouldn't people be washing their hands, covering their coughs and sneezes, stay away from others when they are sick, even under normal conditions?

So what we're saying is Covid19 actually saved us from other diseases and car accidents? I guess there's a silver lining in everything.

For sure there are certain unintended positive outcomes... e.g. if so many can't work then less people driving = less pollution and car accidents.

And sure people should always do common sense things to prevent the spread of flu like washing hands etc.... but this went way beyond that! Everyone wearing masks, staying home or six feet away from people during rare trips outside and generally paranoid about all human contact definitely helped prevent flu better than ever, but at what price?

When you add up all the pros and the cons the net result has been a massive disaster for humanity on countless fronts: mental health, addiction, all other illnesses neglected, financial chaos, compromised education etc etc etc not to mention total year over year deaths way, way up to record numbers in addition to all the other ancillary harms.

So overall trivial positive side effects are likely not much of a silver lining or consolation to the enormous number of people who have been completely fucked by this pandemic...

The shots are meant to do a couple of things: 1) protect the person from the severe affects if thy get the flu; and 2) help reduce the transmission of the flu from person to person.

The flu can spread like a wildfire in schools and the kids can then take it home to the parents. Getting kids the shot helps reduce that from happening
