HK -> Shenzhen: prefer train/ferry?

i agree with the others, it is very easy to get to shenzhen by the KCR at TST East Station, if you are in Kowloon.

Acutally, I am in Shenzhen now. I arrived HK yesterday evening (9:00pm) and headed to the border because the rooms are cheaper. I already have a Chinese Visa. I was debating whether or not to stay short term in the capsule at Queen, but decided to dish out $40 to stay at Days Inn.

Upon arrival last night I decided to go to a massage parlor near the Place Fashion Hotel. It's a little out of the way, but the quality of the girls and massage are good. Paid 208RM for 2.5hrs massage, plus hj. Got digits and may call her in when she gets off at 10a.

Later today I will be heading to Macau to meet up with a girl I met on a prior trip where we will be heading to hk for a few days. From there, I will take her back to Macau and then hop on Tiger Air for a few days in AC. Will post a trip report later.

To respond to a couple things, as well as mention some things that I probably should have elaborated on earlier:

I already have a Chinese visa. I will actually be flying into HK from Kunming, coming off an 11 day tour of Yunnan. This is why elsewhere I have been inquiring into action in Kunming; unfortunately no one goes here frequently, so that info is sparse or nonexistent. I will update of course if I find something.

HK hotel is already booked for 4 nights, thus the day trip. I was not even planning to check out Shenzhen until Lucky1973 suggested it.

I do have a place in mind to check out. Silly as this may sound to some (all?) of you, my prime motivation is to check out Minsk World, as Soviet aircraft carriers are harder to find than 4 leaf clovers, much less visit. The girls are secondary. So if Minsk World is easily accessible from Shekou, then that is a consideration. I mention the ferry as a means of avoiding the border crossing at Luo Hu, which 1 of the guidebooks I borrowed suggested. I may go back into HK via train. Also, I get into HK Thursday afternoon and leave to go home Monday. This restricts my options to visiting Shenzhen during Friday-Sunday, although this has been cited as not a good time to for action given that the HKers are going there as well.

These are my preliminary plans thus far: go to Shenzhen in the AM, get to Minsk World when it opens, stay a few hours. Go over to where the Queen's Spa is, probably get lunch. Hit the barbershop nearby mentioned here (http://www.worldsexguide.com/forum/showthread.php?p=427302#post427302), get a legit massage at Queen, then head back to HK before the last train or whatever leaves.

Why would anyone want to go to Shenzhen just for a day? Unless you know of a place there you wanted to go otherwise I think it would be a wasted time and money. To go to Shenzhen from HK you will need a vise, unless you already have one you will need to pay $400 HK to get one.

Take the train to Louhu. Cab to Futian should be about RMB15-20.

Options.

1. Ferry goes to Shekou which is far from the action in shenzhen downtown.

Although there is some action in shekou also.

From Shekou to Shenzhen downtown the taxi fare is approx 80 RMB.

2. Train goes right to the center where you want to be.

3. Read all the reports and you will definitely well informed.

I'm planning to hop back over the border from HK to Shenzhen for a day trip. Are there any pros/cons to taking the train or the ferry to get there and back?
