Just curious what would be the new implications regarding the current City Council Rules?

If they already aren't doing much to close the ones that have no licence at all, I don't see how these new rules will change the situation much. I think this has more to do with the "legit" holistic practitioners not liking that licences for shiatsu, aromatherapy, etc., are being given to MPs.

agreed. i thought a socialist mayor would be good for this town, instead david and his left wing buds (saundercook) decided to attack easy targets ie parlours and peelers. corect me if i'm wrong, but aren't there homeless people everywhere downtown, and tons of shootings in the ghetto every day? i would rank those problems higher than getting a hand job.

I listened to Peter Milczyn on a radio talk show the other day. He said they should move all those "places" to an industrial area, get them out of the residential parts of town. He said those "places" are just fronts for prostitution. When asked if prostitution should be legalized he said no!

O.K. let me get this straight. Peter thinks it's all right to move the MP's to an industrial area so they can go on with their "prostitution". That's O.K. as long as it's not in a residential area. However, we don't want to legalize "Prostitution" and heaven forbid, force crack addicted gun toting pimps out of a job, and ensure SP's get regular medical checkups now do we!!! That would make too much f**king sense!

Peter, close the MP's and MPA's go underground! Know what an Indy is? Shithead!

As I read the clipping of the article in The Star link, I could not help but be amused at the indignation of some politicians , at allowing the studio's to lock their doors. The cry, "licensing people and police can't do their jobs with the doors locked!"

Well, this is possibly the only time I have seen lately where rational heads had prevailed. (They must have talked to their on staff lawyers). If they were to pass the bylaw, saying that the doors must remain open during business hours, and something seriously goes wrong in a studio and someone is hurt because of a robber or a crazy going into the studio. The City could likely be sued for millions and possibly lose because of their actions to install that section into the bylaw. "Talk about how much it will cost the city then to enforce the industry"
The second part might also be it could be challange under the The Charter of rights, A lawyer might be better to explain that section, but I think, from what little I know, this could also be a problem for the city.

It'll be hard to get rid of Milczyn. Etobicoke is a pretty conservative area with a "If it's not broken don't fix it attitude." All of our councillors are completely useless yet they win every time. They get endorsements from the Guardian like "He hasn't done anything wrong so why not give him another chance." It is EXTREMELY frustrating.

I was talking to some friends about this issue, and it occurred to me that if this ridiculous law is a precursor to more active prosecution of the MPs, then it will be interesting to see if the attitude gets extended to the Gay community's fun spots. I bet it won't.

For years the Gay bath houses were and probably are allowed to have sexual services on thier premises. Many Gay bars had things like "slirp ramps". You stick you dick through a hole and a stanger does you on the other side.

I believe they were able to get around the legalities because of how they charge the patrons for time and not for personal services. ie/. Bath houses charged for locker rental and bars charged you for beer.

By having open sexual activities happening, why didn't these place get the same pressure the MP get now?

Politics??? It seems to be an open market for LE and Polititians to confront the sexual problems but at the same time ignore the Gay and Lesbian bath houses.

Could you imagine walking into a straight bar and you see open sexual activities? This type of bar would be busted so fast in Toronto, so how do the Gay bars get around the issue? when was the last time you heard of a bath house or Gay bar being busted for sexual activities?

Take a look at what goes on during the gay pride parade. A friend of mine owns a building down in "The Village" (as the street signs proclaim) and we saw sever guys walking around wearing just chaps. They walked by police officers and nothing was said. Now imagine if a SC was having a party and some ladies were walking around in nothing but chaps. I'm sure the police would be there in a heartbeat.
