I am onboard with some of the measures that may take place to keep things under control but I am complying begrudgingly. To be honest, I'm more terrified about the way people are overreacting than the virus itself. Sure, let's listen to the medical experts and do everything they suggest we do (social distancing, washing hands, self-quarantine etc.). It all makes perfect sense. What I truly resent is the media's part in all of this. I've always despised how they've been preying on the average Joe Blow's fears with the way they've sensationalized this. It is serious and we will all be incovenienced but don't fan the flames to where people start acting like idiots at the grocery stores with their hoarding because they think an apocalypse is upon them. Stop politicizing it from a left/right paradigm. I'm looking at you CNN! Drop the punditry and be the journalists you say you are! Oh, and before you guys tell me that they're not reading this, I am sure Don Lemon and Anderson Pooper do. I'm sure they've gotten off reading Ursus' posts while fantasizing that they were that Indian boyfriend he's spoken about before.

I am sorry to say but if an adult is going to the store and hoarding toilet paper, it is not the media's fault, that person is just a fucking idiot. When a school shooting happens, they act all depressed and mopey on-screen but deep inside they love it because it helps push further their anti-gun campaign. Same thing with this pandemic. They want you to stay home and you should but they love how social distancing will hurt business, the stock market and the economy as a whole because it's election season and they want to pin all this chaos on the current president.

I was at the Liquor Store today and there was a worker walking up to every customer, forcing them to sanitize their hands. I didn't downplay the virus. Unlike you though, I'm not one to panic. I don't want to live my life like that. No matter how serious the pandemic, why freak out over something I cannot control? I can only do what I'm asked to by the medical experts. I wash my hands, practice social distancing, self-quarantine if I came from a trip, not show up to work if I display symptoms, get tested etc. Death doesn't terrify me as much. Losing elderly people in my family does but again, I cannot control that. So yes, the way people act scares me more. It's depressing to see people hoard grocery stores, loot others' personal property and act like an apocalypse is upon them. It's a disgusting display of human behaviour right in the face of adversity. If this is how we are at a time when the pandemic has barely peaked, then imagine how much worse we would be when it finally does. How we react to this will shape our reality moving forward. Living in a depression, to me, is worse than death. It's not downplaying the situation just because I'm just as concerned about the financial consequences brought about by this virus. It is a scary scenario which is why it is very irresponsible for the media to stoke fear in people who are already in a state of panic. They have a platform to report the news objectively and promote positivity in such trying times. I want to hear more from the doctors and their advice on how to stay healthy through all this rather than a bunch of pundits finding ways to politicize this global crisis.
