Pandora streaming music

just wanted to share that I've recently hooked my speakers up to my laptop and have been streaming massage music from pandora and it's wonderful! This site lets you create your own stations based on certain music. so say you like Jack Johnson - you can create a "jack johnson" station, and it will play only songs that have similar musical styles. There are also stations by genre like "spa" or "nature". I love it because it's always a different song, and I don't know the order of the songs.
It seemed no matter how much new music I would have on my MP3 player, I would know it by heart within no time and be needing fresh music again. pandora to the rescue!

Just went to listen. Put on 'Spa music' and so I had it on in the background while I worked on my computer.

One song had ducks quacking LOL! and another was an acapella called 'don't stop' and the girl kept saying .. uh.. some perverted stuff and it had no music to it which made it even weirder.

I think I would personally have to reserve this station just for finding music. However, I admit to being the type of person who needs to have some type of control over the music. LOL

If you don't like a song that's being played, you can zap it -- woo whoo! with a thumbs down. no fees, no commercials. only the music you want to hear - it's awesome!

oh right I forgot to mention that you can give the thumbs up or down - good point NC_kneader!
then if you don't like a song, it won't be played again when you give it the thumbs down. I've actually been creating my own stations, I started with the spa music station, but some of it was too fast for me (I didn't get the weird one with ducks or the "don't stop" GreenDragonfly - luckily!!!)

I really like this website!
I took the artists that you all had mentioned in a previous thread (I believe it was music with lyrics?)
and have created many of my own stations.
Roy Peters, R Carlos Nakia, Peter kater.... And the station just finds the best matches.

You can subscribe to it for $36/year to listen non-stop. I finally ended up doing this so it wouldn't stop in the middle of a massage, lol.

Just a heads up, I used to love Pandora, I had a few stations, and listened all the time. Now sadly, Pandora does not work if you live outside the US, because of licensing restrictions.

Anyone know of other stations that would do something similar?

Yes!!!! Pandora is awesome! We use it for our music mix in the clinic. It is highly adaptive to whatever sound environment you wish to create. There is a "mix" feature where you can create a combination of different artist styles and music genres. I strongly recommend it.

ohhh im listening to new age ambient now...its sooooo relaxing. I can totally see working to this music, it wouldnt be hard to reach over and bump the keyboard to keep the music playing - much like hitting 'replay' on the cd player.

Problem is though....its so nice sitting here in my bedroom (just took a couple minutes break from chores) with this nice music and notebook in my lap....I dont want to go anywhere............what will BF say when he gets home and I havn't done a thing.....I can blame you guys - or pandora.

I still havent gotten up to do anything, still listening to Pandora and a commercial came on!! for a coupon website, Now that I think about it I did hear the same one yesterday (been listening to pandora mostly daily for almost 2 months, first time hearing any commercial) I'm wondering if its not a holiday thing? We will have to see if they play it after christmas, hope not.

I haven't heard any commercials, but I did see an ad right before the music started playing the other day. It is formatted just like the little [warning: highly technical term ahead] thingy that displays for each song.

I'm with you, stonegirl ~ I hope they don't mess with it, either.

I have an iPod Touch and found Pandora in the App Store so now I'm streaming music for my office thru my iPod - it's GREAT!

I haven't heard any commercials yet and it doesn't time out after an hour - it goes ALL DAY! I love it!

Pandora streaming music

Ok so after almost a year of using pandora in my practice, I can no longer use the free version for a few reasons.
1. It times out after an hour. I've adapted my work to make it work, but then there's
2. The commercials have gotten worse. They use them to pay the royalties on the songs but ARHG!!
3. They now have a 40 hour a month listening limit! Once you reach that time, if you want to keep listening you have to pay .99 cents to keep listening to the free version(with commercials) for the rest of the month!!

So I am venturing out to find other similar programs. I feel that 36 bucks a month is a little much for music.
I found another similar site called Slacker radio. I've only been listening to it for a week, so I don't know much yet, but their unlimited monthly subscription is only $3. Much less than $36!!

Anyone else have any other sites?
