Does anybody know about the relationship between the premier spas (perla, pure) and public health agencies ? Could they be forced to hand over details (phone numbers) of clients in the event of a known positive Covid test among their MPAs? It would be easy for them to determine possible exposure timelines and they have cell phone numbers. Perhaps not in their
Commercial interest to share but perhaps mandatory from public health perspective ? I am reconsidering re entering hobbying world after long absence ( pre March 2020) but am nervous about covid exposure and potential entanglements with public health officials.

I think anyone whom tells you there's no risk would be misleading. Many people are using burner phones and or text apps that disguise your number. In your case scenario there is likely never ever anything going to come of it even with your real number because there's no way they have enough resources to go after everyone just to find that near everyone gives a statement reporting lending of their phone to others.

The situation that might be more concerning is like what happened with a recent bust of a LE Officer who was in effect shaking down SP's. They caught him red handed and then also used his phone records to show it was not a "one off" situation so that come sentence time he would get stiffer penalty. Keep in mind he was doing something more illegal than visiting a SP and only then did they go after his phone. So in theory you would have to likely be doing some bad thing(s) and be caught red handed before they started getting warrant for phone records.

Definitely if an outbreak of any kind which is concerning to Public Health were to occur at any facilities or establishments that are open to public or private, a court order could easily to obtained to do contact tracing by any means including cellphone or online contacts. Everything online remains there forever . Public Health is part of the City of Toronto which also licences all of the brothels whether they be , Body Rubs or Holistics so it would be in the best interest of places like Premier Spa to fully cooperate with Public Health.

Just trying to understand if you are hoping they would contact you or you don't want them contacting you. What entranglement from public health would you be worried about? You can catch Covid pretty much anywhere where there are other people. I believe the number 1 place that Covid is spread is in the home. One family member catches it and then like a lot of other viruses it goes through everyone in the house hold. Not sure if you remember back near the beginning of Covid and they first started asking for phone numbers when you went places, restaurants, bars, strip clubs. One of the dancers I believe at the Brass Rail tested positive and I think they said that there were something like 500 people who could be infected from that one person. When they started calling numbers from the lists the club had they started to find a lot of people had given fake numbers.

Considering the Brass Rail outbreak I don’t recall hearing any substantiated reports of an outbreak at a spa despite the obvious risk factors.

To the OP I wouldn’t worry too much. I’ve gone 1-2 times a month since the reopening with no issues, which is on the low end compared to most here. You could also consider a drop in to not give out your number.

I agree, but everyone's situation is different. People are worried they could take an infection home, but I'm not sure Covid would be the 1st item at the top of my list that I would catch and take home. I mean, for all we know the poster asking the question could be over 90 years old which is the group that has the most to worry about from catching Covid.
But hey, if he is over 90 and still going to the spas, good on you brother.

The paranoia about spas certainly isn't borne out by real world data. Unless you're permanently locked up in your bedroom you can bring home covid from pretty much anywhere just by being out in the world. Spas arguably have a much lower risk level because you are effectively only exposed to one person...

I would have to agree. In my view, spas have a higher risk level because you are in close contact (ie more than 15 min within 2 m) with someone who is in close contact with multiple other people every day. In my day to day life, for example, which includes subway and the office once or twice a week , these conditions are only met with my immediate family members. Someone said in an earlier post that restaurant riskier. I also disagree there only because you need to show proof of double vax in order to get into restaurant. It’s puzzling to me why govt. does not require double vax for all MPAd and customers. As for entanglements, what I meant was I certainly do NOT want to be called by public health because this could potentially lead to my wife finding out that I went to the spa. But More importantly, i do not want to be the one to pass Covid to my kids or elderly in laws. But on other hand , I love going to the spa. It is kind of crazy though how govt not mandating vax for massage workers…

I don't know if you know and I hate to be the one to break it too you, but being double vaxxed is not 100% protection against getting Covid. If you are really that paranoid, then you really should not venture out, the world is a dangerous place.

Not on crack. I reread. Still makes perfect sense.

Exposure to one person is much less risky than exposure to groups of people, which commonly occur in all kinds of public settings.

Everyone seems to have this crazy notion Covid is some type of STI. It is not, it's airborne and you can catch it anywhere indoors.

The more people you are around, the greater likelihood to catch it. You do not need to be making out, etc.

Getting close to 300 million cases worldwide... overwhelmingly these cases are not from intimate contact.
