I'm in a similar position to you my sympathies and i hope you get the relief you need.

I know it sounds a bit strange, but how old were you guys when your herniations happened?

It seems that most of the people on this site are about 30-40? I think? I don't mean to offend anyone.
I was only nineteen when mine herniated. The fact that it only seems to happen to people older than me has me really worried. If anyone could set me right i'd really appreciate it

wondered if you had had any progress or developments ... i am in a similar situation, and like most of us, posting here as i desperately search for 'hope' for relief from pain. would be nice to sit down and enjoy the feeling, and maybe even to think about work again. i have also had problems now for 2 years. prolapsed disc l4/5. not bad enough for surgery. don't want surgery, but feeling a bit desperate. was on sick for 8 months or so, then had to finish a temporary work contract which involved work and study, dont know how i did it cus i had to sit down. but now contract has ended and i am really worried about a) pain and b) possibility for future work. i can't lodge with mates for much longer.
am trying pilates, yoga, have seen chiropractor mackenzie and other techniques, but nothing seems to help me to sit still. would be helpful to know if anyone on here improves after 2 years and if natural healing process has done all it can. losing faith. its a bad day!
did you ever go back to work ? did your pain decrease?

Awwwww there's so many people with back issues.

I too have back trouble since having my last and final baby. I had minths of physio, that was no good, so I pushed to get an MRI scan as I know there WAS a problem. It cam back with I have two bulging discs, and something they didn't explain, since that I hasve had no treatment, no pain relief, nothing whats so ever. Which is very upsetting, doctors are there to help people.

I feel I should of had all my back and hip looked at, my hip comes out of it's socket, my siactic nerve in my left leg, and as you can imagine my back hurts. I just get on with it and try not let it get me down and fight it, but with seeing everyones posts here, I think I'm going back to make them listen and make them do there job.

thanks for replying. from what i read the only thing that will help is core exercise, so am focussing on that. hope yours improves. it's a bummer.

If you have more than one doctor at your surgery ask for a second opinion and enquire if any of them specialise in back injuries. I was prescribed Co-codamol and Diclofenac which help a bit with the pain, but when its at its worst no medication helps and I find it only eases off by lying flat on my stomach on the floor for about an hour.
