Ok so Ill offer 45 minute and 1 hour sessions... 90 mins too.
Ive had 2 hour requests but I find unless the person is in real true need, 2 hours is too long.

Don't worry, I'm not offended. I never insinuated that you don't deserve every dollar that you make. I'm sorry if you think otherwise. I've seen you and I can tell you do work hard in every session. Your anecdote about the guy paying you less but stayed for the hour proves my point. You need to stick to a strict time limit when your schedule is backed-up; otherwise you will end up feeling being cheated and this can't be mentally healthy for you long term.

However you must understand that not everyone can afford your hour rate, but that's their loss for not able to enjoy you for the full hour.
If you eliminate your half hr appts, you might see a decrease in business.

So how do you keep your 30 mins clients but yet you do not want to feel cheated from being stiffed when going overtime? My suggestion is to stop going OT. Once you stop doing OT for free, you should see clients upgrading their session to a full hour.

I like the idea of 45 mins appt if it is in the price structure of 150-160. That might work out for both your clients and yourself.

Its too hard to stick to the 30 mins because I feel like I have to rush through. I LIKE what I do.. I really like it, so I cant enjoy it myself anyways when its 30 mins.
I dont mind doing 45 min sessions but dont want to nail it down like that to an exact number of minutes.... that would be like the asian places who turn on the timer and you are off that table and ready to GO on the minute. They are very strict and I hate to be business-like that way.




Why dissect it in such a way hardgrip??? Ok let me explain more. This is an example... for the first time a couple of weeks ago, I finished up with the "end" exactly at the 48 minute mark. I told the guy, ok I can either put you back on the table and massage you another 12 minutes or you can throw me 160 instead of 180.
So he gives me 160, which was fine with me of course or I wouldnt have said it...BUT THEN, he stands there talking to me and rubbing on me and trying to grab and hug me until the hour is up and THEN LEAVES. So basically he paid less but still stayed for the hour.
Im not strict about it really at all but dont pay me less and stay the whole time GROPING ME regardless!!!!!!!
Hardgrip you make it sound really really expensive but once again I will defend myself.
I bust my ASS. I work really reallyyyyyyyy hard. Most people request deep, heavy massages and its hard hard work dammit (once again I do love my job though)...then sometimes I spend 20 mins yanking on the pinga because they dont WANT to finish and hold back. After running every morning and doing weights, massaging heavily and yanking I think I deserve what I ask for.
I dont touch you for a few minutes and then end it up. I dont lay there with my legs open getting screwed and making 300 the hour like many do.
I ask for what Im worth. I WORK for it.

So if we are going to say its 4 per minute lol, maybe I should start charging the 60 dollars more im giving in the extra time I usually give per session.

You might price quite a lot of people out without the half hour. I would think the half hour rate work out much better for you, 120 for 30 mins is $4 per minute. Your hour rate of 180 works out to $3 per minute. With your attention to service, I think you go overtime everytime on either appts, so what you lose in OT is a wash.

I do understand that 30 mins is too short a time to do anything or do anything that will be enjoyable enough to your clients, but you have the right to stick to a schedule that works for you. So, to keep your customers that could only afford 30 mins and also for you to maintain a sane schedule, why don't you be strict about the 30 mins for those half hour appts, i.e. no overtime unless the clients upgarde to a full hour?

As I finish my last half hour up I look at the clock and see its been 50 minutes.
I run through my checklist...before my next appointment which is in 10 minutes even though I ALWAYS leave a half hour between appointments, I need to clean up here, put fresh blankets down, put the laundry in the dryer, go upstairs, take the dog out, check emails, return calls and be back down here in time... only 10 minutes for all that? It takes the dog 15 minutes alone just to decide if she will bestow her poop on the sidewalk for me!
Everyone calls at the same time so I dont get nearly as busy as people think...if I see three people its a good day but everyone wants the SAME TIME lol.
So I have decided no more half hours.
You cant really appreciate the full benefit of my talents in a half hour honestly and I cant continue to sacrifice my hands doing "half hours" that take an hour.
So from now on, only hour and 90 minute appointments, I do apologize but for once Im going to have to do something for ME.
