Cleaning bottles and jars?

I would like to reuse some of my oil oil bottles - how do I go about making sure these are absolutely clean (other than washing them up) for an oil blend?

The bottles I have had back from clients who have put them through the dishwasher have seemed ok. One other alternative I have found it to soak them in Isopropyl Alcohol which evaporates once they have been removed from the solution. However having looked at some of the info I'm not so sure I want to continue using this even though I doubt any is physically retained in the bottle. You could boil the bottles if you felt it necessary or having washed them soak in Milton or similar, which is suitable for sterilising baby bottles etc. I wouldn't boil the lids and droppers if you are using them.

I'd also be interested to know what other techniques people use as just washing in hot water and soap does not, I feel, get them clean enough. The dish washer seems more efficient but I don't have one.

What oils are you talking about?
Vegetales oils or essentials oils?

For my point of view dish washer or boiling method can be fine for cleaning bottle of vegetal oils but not enough for essentials oils.

Essentials oils are part of the vibrational remedies.
The vibration of the remedies will remain on the glass long time after the bottle is empty and dish washed or sterilised.

I have never manage to clean properly an empty bottle of essential oil.
I always smell the oils even years and dish washer or boiling.
For me, this is not a bottle I can reuse, so I even did not go to the next level of removing the vibration and give them for glass recycling.

The only bottles I clean properly and re use are those for my essences remedies.

Yes getting the grease residue out is a nightmare i have sterilised mine before now after washing them up with washing up liquid..

For my part I'm generally thinking of the bottles I give the balance of a blend to my client in. So therefore mainly vegetable oil. With essential oils I find that with some I can get the bottle clean however the dropper and lid have to go in the bin. With the more resinous oils and some of the more camphoraceous oils I only reuse the bottle for decanting if I have a large bottle and want to keep only 5-10mls in my kit.

Any bottle that has become "sticky" around the top I clean as best I can and recycle. Likewise with the large plastic bottles my carrier oils come in.
