Hi Friends, the debutante has completed his debut. So here are my first impressions about the famed Mumbai Service Bars. I don't know whether comparing them with US strip clubs is a good option. But what the heck. Here it is.
Location: The locations of these SBs surprised me. They are bang in the middle of regular grocery shops, chemist shops etc. There are regular women and families moving about.
In the US, such locations were either segregated in separate blocks like "The Block" at the Baltimore Harbor or at least there is a conspicuous "Gentleman's Club" sign outside to sensitize others.
I wouldn't be surprised if a unassuming person pining for a drink after a hard day's work just saunters in and gets the shock (or pleasant surprise) of his life.

Watchmen: In the US there are guards / bouncers outside who check for your ID before letting you in.
Here, the excuse-of-a-guard that stand outside look like waiters themselves and are dying to welcome you in. They also chase for a tip later. Am wondering if there are regulations around this.

Girls: The concept of Customer Delight seems far for many of these ladies. I have seen strippers getting kicked out unceremoniously if they are rude to customers or get into arguments.
No such check up here I guess.

Waiters : Waiters (Annas as they seem to be called here) seem to be another mouth to feed. They pester you for drinks and tips every now and then. They poke their nose in every now and then.
In the US strip clubs the job of cross-selling extras is with the Bartender. But since the bartender is confined behind the bar, his nuisance value is much limited. Tips to the bouncers is many a times given by the stripper herself.

Haggling: Now here is the good part. In the US I had to mostly pay the Bartender to take the lady for a lap dance. This does not seem to be the case here. Its a free market. The women set their own rates and the law of demand and supply and quality of service seem to play a pivotal role in determining the rates.

Quality of Service: In the US the quality of service in a lap dance was largely standardized. The rules of engagement were set. So in metropolitan cities like Washington DC you are not allowed to touch the girl, but she can touch you. In Baltimore, everything is allowed. The baseline for lap dance was the same in most bars.
In here, it seems to be inversely proportional to the looks of the lady. More pretty the lady, more the nakhras.

What's the point you are trying to State. Contrary to your conclusion, the analysis seems to indicate it is more fun at Noida than Baltimore. We definitely need to have systems in place for many daily services like in the US. But for other things a sense of adventure, discovery and cajoling is fun. Nakhra is good. Openness is boring. I have been to the places there and elsewhere. It is so mechanical. Anyway these are my thoughts. Others please comment. Finally thanks for triggering a new topic of discussion.

There is no comparison between US strip clubs and mumbai SB/DB. The services in strip clubs are mechanical unless taken to VIP for more fun BJ/FS
