Chat Disappointing trend in service

Has anyone else noticed a changing of the guard as far as service in spas? Ill specifically point out the semi-legit to semi-holistic range. I dont ever seek out any other type of spa so I can't comment on the service there.

By service, I don't mean what you get as far as extras go for what amount of $. To me that is between the MP and the client. By "service" I mean the experience from when you walk in the door. Before, say 5-10 years ago, there used to be a receptionist who greeted you. For a walk in, would let you know who is available and show you kindly to your room. Then in would come the attendant, and once the door closed, full attention paid to the client. The kinks would be worked out on the table, both massage and otherwise. Money would be exchanged like this : tip to the girl, who would be grateful and who had not discussed tips before or during. It was just understood. The room fee would be paid to the receptionist. Pleasantries exchanged, maybe a bottle of water on the way out, and a spring in your step and smile on your face.

Those were the good old days.

Typically, from my own experience lately, most (not all) of my visits tend to go like this --> Open the door to an empty reception area. Some yelling in back, not in english (which is fine, the language, but to an english speaker it sounds quite aggressive and abrupt. ) Then someone comes running out, putting a mask on like they are surprised someone is there. Then comes the rush into the room. Well, as a walk in, I like to know who is available before I remove my shoes, so I can decide whether or not I am going to stay. Lately, this question seems to perplex the attendants. I understand that COVID and closures have hurt business, and maybe staff cuts as far as receptionists have occurred. But, I think it is important to have someone to greet the client, whether it is taking turns during the day or whatever. In the room, I feel like there is far more yelling between MPA,s through the doors... probably because of a lack of receptionist or maybe lack of direction or scheduling. Nobody to keep track. This really, and I mean really starts things off on the wrong foot for me. This is supposed to be a relaxing event in my day. This is why I choose legit-semilegit.... the massage matters to me. Lately it seems to be lost.

Then we come to the biggest turn off for me of all time. Talking tips. I have had it even happen at LEGIT places lately. What is going on? Are guys not tipping? Are they tipping way too much? I have always tipped very well, but within the regular scope of what is expected, so this question bothers me more than you can imagine. Again, financial hardship due to closures and shut downs are definitely a thing, I understand that completely. But, as I am sure I am not the only one who feels like this, it may be fair to say that it could actually hurt business in the long run. Asking for tips, or suggesting big tips, while still face down receiving a mediocre massage, or at any time during the experience really.... just kills it IMHO.

Now lets be real, COVID threw us all for a loop. I do feel for spa owners. I know they are doing their best to find good staff after losing some to their home countries, to fear or the virus, or just to change in lifestyles. There is definitely more turn around than ever before. New talent needs time to procure their skills and find out what the business is about. But the owner/manager/mamasan should really make a good effort to sit down and go over the do's/don'ts and expectations. They need to realize that not every guy who comes into a semi-holistic is there for a bodyslide. Some guys just want a good massage, release, and want to try somewhere different, and or someone new. Not everyone who goes in for a car wash gets a full wax and detail. Not everyone who goes out for dinner wishes to have apps, drinks and dessert.

Sometimes they want the basics, they know that going in and attempts to upsell are the equivalent to haggling for cheaper services. They are not the same thing. I do not want anything besides a HJ because in my brain, it is what I can handle as far as guilt and risk. I dont want to kiss anyone. I dont want DATY. I dont want any mouth on me anywhere. Thats why I choose legit to semi legit. Occasionally semi-holistic to see a girl who would just be easy on the eyes for a change. I don't think that I should be basically forced into paying for those things, when I dont want them, but am willing to pay going rate (more if the experience is good too) for the basics. Why are the demands for tips and expectations of higher mileage creeping down into the semi-legit range? I guess it could be a shift due to the pandemic. Or I guess it could be lack of education or instruction from the owners/managers. Or it could just be me losing touch with the industry that is changing as many things do, into a realm of more sex shop even in the legit and semi lane.

I know I will most likely get blasted by some, but I have a feeling that some may feel the same way. To an experienced hobbier of 20 years or so, most places at the moment are in a "puppy-mill:" routine, with new girls all the time, new to the business, little to no skill, revolving door, and told that extras get you $$$. Maybe I am old fashioned (though I'm not old by any means) and maybe this hobby is just not for me anymore. But out of the 5 last visits I have had in a semi-legit (1 semi-holistic) setting.... the turn-offs were always present except once. I lost my excitement each time and left feeling way more frustrated than when I entered. On the flipside, a legit place has been having me borderline exploding, without any expectation or chat about extras because they dont do it. So maybe that has to be my lane from now on, as it seems to be catering to my expectations far more.

I know it is a long read, and I dont expect people who will comment, if any, to read the whole thing... but I just had to vent a little. No I will not name any spa's or any girls. Please dont ask. Im not here to point fingers, but I do want any owner or attendant who reads this to maybe think about their setup and their approach to massage in a semi-legit setting. Lines are being blurred, and girls are getting greedy. A steady flow of people want only the basics, and will be repeat customers for years if they are respected. If not they will go somewhere else until they find what they want. I guess the same can be said for those who want more mileage, but there are far more places that offer that than the basics if feels like at the moment.

I really hope the city of Toronto can get back to an experience-based industry. It will always be a money driven industry too, but the money will always come if the experience is good as well.

It all depends on where you go. The best place for you might be Just Relax, E& M, Serene Ocean, XR and Healing Hands. They all have receptionists and focus on good massage and a little limited extras. They never ask for tips unless you push them for extras beyond their semi legit limits. That's why they are always busy with lots of repeat customers.

Do not go to semi holistic spas , you know which ones they are. They are there for extra services and expect good tips. They might even see you as a cheap guy if you go there just for massage and a HJ.

It was a long read so some parts I just quickly glanced over. But in short, for me, things have mostly been the same as before. In fact, I find the girls more open and friendly now (but since you are mostly a low mileage guy, this might not make a difference to you).

Regarding receptionists, keep in mind, only the larger and busier spas have one. Most of the places I went to before never had a receptionist and this never bothered me.

Regarding talking in the room, it does suck but I don't see it happening anymore now compared to before (of course, where you go and how busy it was when you were there makes a big difference).

Regarding tips, maybe I've been lucky, but 99% of the time, the girls have not asked me (even new MPAs that I haven't seen before). At most, they might hint that tips are expected but that's about it.

Yeah, for you, maybe go to the very low mileage places (or even legit like you alluded to) where you will have very low expectations. Then anything you get is just a bonus...

Btw, it might help if you make appointments as opposed to just walking in...this helps the spa in planning and they will be more organized when you get there...of course, the downside is the nice element of surprise of meeting a brand new MPA. Also, in general, at semi-legits, the girls hate it when the customers ask to see the line up first (so right off the bat, you could be starting off on the wrong foot)...I either book an appointment to specifically see someone or I just take my chances, good or bad. If the MPA isn't really to my liking than I'll just have a very low mileage session and hopefully still get a nice massage out of it (but this is where reading reviews and talking to others on here will minimize the chances of a bad 'chance' encounter).

Everyone will have different views and experiences based on what they are after. 100%. No argument there. I do stick to the legit/semi low mileage places. As risqué as I go is SL. And even then it is rare, like 2% of visits.

I understand 100%. What I’m saying is, even those places you listed, are changing. I didn’t name any. Your list can be used as an example though. More than one of those I’ve experienced what I mentioned. Multiple times. That’s what I’m getting at.

I'm new in this and have visited just a couple of places and have had almost exactly the same experience. Since being new, I thought that's the standard, although I've felt it a bit of a rough greeting for this kind of business that is supposed to give you a relaxed and pampered experience from the moment to walk-in through the walk-out.

I had the opportunity to have a chat with a spa manager. She was complaining that, other than the receptionist's salary expense, it is not easy to find a receptionist who is responsible, with good management skills, and knows how to deal with the attendants and their working relationship manners with each other during a shift. Therefore, it is usually the spa manager who has to do it and this person is so busy that usually can only spend a few hours at the reception during the busy hours, at best.

I think due to lock-downs and not making money for several months, many of the attendants had to use their savings (quoted by an attendant). And, now they are in the rush for making money so they can catch up quickly and therefore are working like a machine trying to earn as much cash as possible during their shifts.

So they don't want to waste their time for someone who really wants a good massage with just a HJ or HE for a small tip. You may be a good tipper, but in general, the amount of tips they get is based on their extras. Therefore, they want to get to the "high earning extras" fast, get it done, then serve the next customer, right after. Hence talking/shouting with the other attendant through the walls during the massage so won't loose the next customer just walked in or called.

This is all of course only my experience and opinion, and not necessarily the reality out there.

I totally agreed with this post. We, as costumers, spend time driving to go to the spa, and of course, spend $ to have fun with the ones we like. It appears the boss and attendants do not care and treat us, the costumers, as debit machines $$.

I have seen a new trend in which the boss forces you to take a girl just because "no one" wants to see her. Very rude in my opinion.

I have also seen/experienced more mileage than expected in semi-legits especially when they are very slow. Ladies are willing to do "anything", even in semi-legits, during slow days, however, what it bothers me is after you are done they request the tip and count the $ in front of you. Very rude...

Old days were better....

It depends on where you go. The places I mentioned above never happen such things unless you push them for extra services.

Oh yes..some girls will do ask for tips if you push them for extras beyond their semi legit limits. Otherwise they are happy just to give good massage and a HJ with minimal tips ranging from 20 to 40 depending on where your hands roam. Don't forget there are lots of cheap asses who groped them and left with pennies.

Long one, but definitely a good read. I got same sentiments since last year beginning of first lockdown.
I would say it's picking up. Nowhere near yet, but a lot better.
The challenge is going to spa with new girl or first time seeing. This is where most disconnects or miscues happen. I agree, spa owners should do a lot better in managing their talents and overall services. Hey, we're paying anyway.
As for extras, I don't expect much at semi-legit spa. I might touch here and there. I would partake occasionally and only if I know the girl. Otherwise, I will either go with holistic or agencies for semi to full service.

I recommend you see Lily of Suko Spa, Richmond Hill. She's been there almost 3 years. Nice good looking girl. But, I would say her massage skills have improved a lot. Her medium to hard pressure will give a feeling of excruciating, but you'll be relieved afterwards. I usually book 90 minutes, but I can only handle up to 60 minutes. Then, I'll go with soft to less intense on remaining time to loosen up. Suko lady boss is easy to talk. Ask what kind of massage you expect. You might get lost in translation, have patience instead and be understanding, since most of them will have English as second language.

Another spa I can suggest is Ocean Motion Spa in Vaughan. The lady boss receptionist have quite a personality if you get to know her. Her massage skills is top notch, but she's now focusing more in managing the spa. As far as I know you can still book her. They also got good line up of girls on daily basis with massage skills under their belt. You can expect a good session.

The Golden Rose Water Wellness Centre in Markham is another place to visit. The lady boss been fairly new in spa business, but still continue to provide massage, You can look forward for a good massage experience.

Well, as you can see I got at least one for each city...He he he...No doubt, we'll continue to venture spas around these cities and entire GTA. The disappointments will always be there. You would think this planet as a platform would help and guide us. Unfortunately, at times those reviews are the ones that led us to frustrations. Although, I enjoy reading and will continue to do so to tickle my brain. Massage Planet is now entirely 90% Marketing, 5% fantasies, 4% Fictions and 1% Truth (or even less). Then, add another 100% for Laughter! Come on...You can't be that serious!

Enjoy hobbying while you can...Spend wisely and tip generously as warranted, stay safe and healthy!

So they don't want to waste their time for someone who really wants a good massage with just a HJ or HE for a small tip. You may be a good tipper, but in general, the amount of tips they get is based on their extras. Therefore, they want to get to the "high earning extras" fast, get it done, then serve the next customer, right after. Hence talking/shouting with the other attendant through the walls during the massage so won't loose the next customer just walked in or called.

This is all of course only my experience and opinion, and not necessarily the reality out there.

It depends on where you go. The places I mentioned above never happen such things unless you push them for extra services.

Oh yes..some girls will do ask for tips if you push them for extras beyond their semi legit limits. Otherwise they are happy just to give good massage and a HJ with minimal tips ranging from 20 to 40 depending on where your hands roam. Don't forget there are lots of cheap asses who groped them and left with pennies.

I never ask for extras. Ever. At semi legit I expect them to ask me about a hj release and that’s it. I don’t touch, I don’t hint. Usually what’s been happening is the crack tease, then erection, then they ask “how much you tip?” Before Even turned over.

Long one, but definitely a good read. I got same sentiments since last year beginning of first lockdown.
I would say it's picking up. Nowhere near yet, but a lot better.
The challenge is going to spa with new girl or first time seeing. This is where most disconnects or miscues happen. I agree, spa owners should do a lot better in managing their talents and overall services. Hey, we're paying anyway.
As for extras, I don't expect much at semi-legit spa. I might touch here and there. I would partake occasionally and only if I know the girl. Otherwise, I will either go with holistic or agencies for semi to full service.

I recommend you see Lily of Suko Spa, Richmond Hill. She's been there almost 3 years. Nice good looking girl. But, I would say her massage skills have improved a lot. Her medium to hard pressure will give a feeling of excruciating, but you'll be relieved afterwards. I usually book 90 minutes, but I can only handle up to 60 minutes. Then, I'll go with soft to less intense on remaining time to loosen up. Suko lady boss is easy to talk. Ask what kind of massage you expect. You might get lost in translation, have patience instead and be understanding, since most of them will have English as second language.

Another spa I can suggest is Ocean Motion Spa in Vaughan. The lady boss receptionist have quite a personality if you get to know her. Her massage skills is top notch, but she's now focusing more in managing the spa. As far as I know you can still book her. They also got good line up of girls on daily basis with massage skills under their belt. You can expect a good session.

The Golden Rose Water Wellness Centre in Markham is another place to visit. The lady boss been fairly new in spa business, but still continue to provide massage, You can look forward for a good massage experience.

Well, as you can see I got at least one for each city...He he he...No doubt, we'll continue to venture spas around these cities and entire GTA. The disappointments will always be there. You would think this planet as a platform would help and guide us. Unfortunately, at times those reviews are the ones that led us to frustrations. Although, I enjoy reading and will continue to do so to tickle my brain. Massage Planet is now entirely 90% Marketing, 5% fantasies, 4% Fictions and 1% Truth (or even less). Then, add another 100% for Laughter! Come on...You can't be that serious!

Thank you for this reply. I’ve been to every spa mentioned, and recently too. Besides Suko, which I agree seems to be for the most part maintaining it’s semi legit place, the others are all moving into semi holistic territory. I can’t confirm personally but other places mentioned by KJ that used to be definitely guaranteed good massage are now going downhill with new unskilled talent looking for higher mileage clients.

It is what it is I guess. Lanes always change with the times regardless of the industry. Some people will benefit from this. Others won’t.

For example, I do have a new girl who was working yesterday, (she is also from a really busy semi-legit spa in marhkam), coz she was begging the tips in side during the massage, i asked her get out. talk with her and find out the client did't wanna any extras ,so I told her stop doing the low things in the room, we are not that messy spa. keep watching her and training her whole day
I know she is not the only one like this , but suggest you guys ,tell he front desk or the boss what is not make you happy inside between you and your masseuse , it's much better then you guys just angry and left.

I’m also not saying tip discussion can’t or shouldn’t happen. If I hand someone something pitiful for the experience received, then absolutely I deserve to be called out on it. But that will never happen from me, so I would rather go through the nice experience from start to finish and then put a smile on her face with the generous tip. The moment someone asks about a tip before any service really provided it kills it.

As far as tipping prices, I tend to tip above the norm, for example, a 45 min fully legit the other day I left $50. No hanky panky, definitely some arousal and flirting but no release. I think that is more than fair and she was delighted.

Has anyone else noticed a changing of the guard as far as service in spas? Ill specifically point out the semi-legit to semi-holistic range. I dont ever seek out any other type of spa so I can't comment on the service there.

By service, I don't mean what you get as far as extras go for what amount of $. To me that is between the MP and the client. By "service" I mean the experience from when you walk in the door. Before, say 5-10 years ago, there used to be a receptionist who greeted you. For a walk in, would let you know who is available and show you kindly to your room. Then in would come the attendant, and once the door closed, full attention paid to the client. The kinks would be worked out on the table, both massage and otherwise. Money would be exchanged like this : tip to the girl, who would be grateful and who had not discussed tips before or during. It was just understood. The room fee would be paid to the receptionist. Pleasantries exchanged, maybe a bottle of water on the way out, and a spring in your step and smile on your face.

Those were the good old days.

Typically, from my own experience lately, most (not all) of my visits tend to go like this --> Open the door to an empty reception area. Some yelling in back, not in english (which is fine, the language, but to an english speaker it sounds quite aggressive and abrupt. ) Then someone comes running out, putting a mask on like they are surprised someone is there. Then comes the rush into the room. Well, as a walk in, I like to know who is available before I remove my shoes, so I can decide whether or not I am going to stay. Lately, this question seems to perplex the attendants. I understand that COVID and closures have hurt business, and maybe staff cuts as far as receptionists have occurred. But, I think it is important to have someone to greet the client, whether it is taking turns during the day or whatever. In the room, I feel like there is far more yelling between MPA,s through the doors... probably because of a lack of receptionist or maybe lack of direction or scheduling. Nobody to keep track. This really, and I mean really starts things off on the wrong foot for me. This is supposed to be a relaxing event in my day. This is why I choose legit-semilegit.... the massage matters to me. Lately it seems to be lost.

Then we come to the biggest turn off for me of all time. Talking tips. I have had it even happen at LEGIT places lately. What is going on? Are guys not tipping? Are they tipping way too much? I have always tipped very well, but within the regular scope of what is expected, so this question bothers me more than you can imagine. Again, financial hardship due to closures and shut downs are definitely a thing, I understand that completely. But, as I am sure I am not the only one who feels like this, it may be fair to say that it could actually hurt business in the long run. Asking for tips, or suggesting big tips, while still face down receiving a mediocre massage, or at any time during the experience really.... just kills it IMHO.

Now lets be real, COVID threw us all for a loop. I do feel for spa owners. I know they are doing their best to find good staff after losing some to their home countries, to fear or the virus, or just to change in lifestyles. There is definitely more turn around than ever before. New talent needs time to procure their skills and find out what the business is about. But the owner/manager/mamasan should really make a good effort to sit down and go over the do's/don'ts and expectations. They need to realize that not every guy who comes into a semi-holistic is there for a bodyslide. Some guys just want a good massage, release, and want to try somewhere different, and or someone new. Not everyone who goes in for a car wash gets a full wax and detail. Not everyone who goes out for dinner wishes to have apps, drinks and dessert.

Sometimes they want the basics, they know that going in and attempts to upsell are the equivalent to haggling for cheaper services. They are not the same thing. I do not want anything besides a HJ because in my brain, it is what I can handle as far as guilt and risk. I dont want to kiss anyone. I dont want DATY. I dont want any mouth on me anywhere. Thats why I choose legit to semi legit. Occasionally semi-holistic to see a girl who would just be easy on the eyes for a change. I don't think that I should be basically forced into paying for those things, when I dont want them, but am willing to pay going rate (more if the experience is good too) for the basics. Why are the demands for tips and expectations of higher mileage creeping down into the semi-legit range? I guess it could be a shift due to the pandemic. Or I guess it could be lack of education or instruction from the owners/managers. Or it could just be me losing touch with the industry that is changing as many things do, into a realm of more sex shop even in the legit and semi lane.

I know I will most likely get blasted by some, but I have a feeling that some may feel the same way. To an experienced hobbier of 20 years or so, most places at the moment are in a "puppy-mill:" routine, with new girls all the time, new to the business, little to no skill, revolving door, and told that extras get you $$$. Maybe I am old fashioned (though I'm not old by any means) and maybe this hobby is just not for me anymore. But out of the 5 last visits I have had in a semi-legit (1 semi-holistic) setting.... the turn-offs were always present except once. I lost my excitement each time and left feeling way more frustrated than when I entered. On the flipside, a legit place has been having me borderline exploding, without any expectation or chat about extras because they dont do it. So maybe that has to be my lane from now on, as it seems to be catering to my expectations far more.

I know it is a long read, and I dont expect people who will comment, if any, to read the whole thing... but I just had to vent a little. No I will not name any spa's or any girls. Please dont ask. Im not here to point fingers, but I do want any owner or attendant who reads this to maybe think about their setup and their approach to massage in a semi-legit setting. Lines are being blurred, and girls are getting greedy. A steady flow of people want only the basics, and will be repeat customers for years if they are respected. If not they will go somewhere else until they find what they want. I guess the same can be said for those who want more mileage, but there are far more places that offer that than the basics if feels like at the moment.

I really hope the city of Toronto can get back to an experience-based industry. It will always be a money driven industry too, but the money will always come if the experience is good as well.

I'll add something about the lack of receptionist thing. At one semi-spa that I frequent, I book my appointments directly with the MPA, whose provided me with her cell #. One day I had made an appointment with her for early afternoon, however, when she was in the room doing a morning appointment, another attendant received a call asking for her, and she booked that person to see my attendant because my attendant had not passed my appointment info on to her colleagues.

So when my attendant realized she had been double booked, she texted me asking to re-schedule. My schedule was flexible so I re-booked for a bit later. She was grateful for me understanding her predicamant, and was good to me during our session. Anyway, having a receptionist would have prevented the double booking.

I hear you about tip hungry= boner killer.
But isn't that one of the benefits of being a "regular"? Knowing that some cheap fucks expect the world and then tip $10, how do you suggest a girl approach it? Just hope the guy is not a cheap fuck? Kind of unfair imo.

Personally if I'm new to a lady, I am not offended if they ask if I will tip them (almost never seems to happen anyways) nor if they put me in what I call "the psycho room" (room closest to the reception area).
