This is something I have heard from many people, I only got the shot so I could get back to normal. Travel, dining out, etc. I do not disagree with people for taking this stance, every person has their reason.

What I am still trying to get my head wrapped around is why people who got vaccinated are so afraid? I mean, if the shot is suppose to be 94% effective and even though less effective against new variants it has been said to lessen the effects thus you will just feel like you got a cold, then once again why are people who got the shot so afraid? If another person has not received the shot and they get sick, so what, why is someone who got the shot and protected afraid? The only things that come to mind are people want to control what everyone else does or they really do not believe the shot is that effective thus they are still afraid.

This segment of the population you just described is the most unbearable. They are the self-righteous, sanctimonious moralists who believe that COVID will be here forever. They say the vaccine is effective but deep inside, they don't believe it. They only they say that because they want everyone else to "do their part" for society. It's not about wanting to go back to normalcy. It's virtue-signalling. See. I did my civic duty. Maybe the jab will prevent another lockdown but it maybe it won't. All that matters is I did what I was told to do and I'm a good person for it.

Some asshole at work who got the vax sarcastically asked me that if I passed the virus on to him and he missed a few paychecks because of it, would I compensate him? I scratched my head thinking, you already got the vax. In theory, I'm the one who's unsafe. You got your shots. Wouldn't the vax be pointless if you got so sick that you had to miss work? So really, guys like him could care less about the 94% efficacy. They will live in fear forever but will take the vaccine anyway because it gives them the moral high ground.

I cannot remember if I read an article or listened to a podcast about the rise of people who are basically afraid of everything. If I remember it talked about how we have raised so many people in a protective bubble that now they cannot get over their fears. They were always so protected and never learned how to deal with fear that it is now causing them to basically freeze and need to feel protected again, thus the masks and lockdowns. Older generations went out and played and learned how to deal with falling and getting hurt or sometimes getting in tough situations (climbing up a tree and getting stuck out on a limb), they learned to deal with fear. The younger generation was wrapped in bubble wrap and didn't learn to cope with these things as kids.

I think it was a podcast on raising a weak generation. There was a quote something like "tough times create tough men, and good times create weak men". Now this is a generalization and there are always exceptions to the rules.
