The articles dated back then were to show the contrast on how korea and singapore were once praised as the only countries that handled the virus. Now as you can see all over the media the world is questioning if their numbers were really true from the start because they both are suddenly getting a fast raise in cases. Meanwhile Singapore is busy blaming migrant workers. How is that possible when they closed their borders. This is like Japan who once claimed it's not a big deal there before the Olympics were cancelled. Then after they cancelled it they had a sudden raise in case and admitted they made an error. No they lied to try to keep olympics going
The migrant workers live in dormitories in the outskirts of Singapore. They actually reside in the country so the closing of the borders had nothing to do with them. They make up about 1.5 million out of the 6 million people that live there. Singapore's response was excellent but as someone mentioned, they ignored the most vulnerable subset of their population. The migrant workers live 10-15 people in a room so social distancing is impossible. It was only a matter of time before there was an outbreak. Migrant workers aside, the rest of the country is down to single digits a day which is pretty good. Contact tracing and mass testing is effective but if you ignore 25% of your population you're going to be in trouble. I heard Singapore is planning to replace those migrant workers with robots in the near future as most of them work in factories or construction. Interesting times!
