i want to talk about professionalism here. first of all, i think it's unethical to take a video of a treatment and post it on youtube with or without the client's permission. it's one thing to have someone model for the purpose of demonstration and completely different when it's a real treatment. what do you think?

next - behavior. would you see a practitioner who's table side manner was so... loose? am i a prude for being totally turned off by this kind of behavior? i think that teasing and joking around with someone while they're on the table is totally inappropriate and unprofessional.

i feel a bit embarrassed for even paying attention to a procedure dubbed "emotional liposuction". it's obviously and excessively showy... which i perceive as a "bogus flag". so my third question to you all (and the reason i posted this question in the energy work forum) is - do you guys see any bogus flags here?

While they're are definitely not my "cup of tea" and less than what I'd consider professional - if people give their permission to subject themselves to being videotaped it's up to them. Unfortunately youtube has become an open arena for all kinds of things & its a free for all....So you can find great, not so great & downright awful videos there.

If they're up for being on video that's their call, but when I see someone diving in and jamming thumbs into someone's ribcage and planting fingers between a woman's breasts when she was obviously caught off guard, and continuing when she's trying to block his hands and move away?

Yikes. He seemed to move a little too fast for my taste and kept going after she pushed him away? Also, you go poking hard into someones body, you are going to get that reaction. I would never subject myself to being treated that way.

As far as the 2nd video (didn't watch the first) I disagree, I think that her hands went up in surprise but I don't see that she was trying to push him away. I just think she was nervous and the fellow's personality just happens to be matter of fact. As someone who has both experienced and witnessed a lot of various types of energy work, I thought it was interesting.

I only watched a portion of the first video and I was irritated. It appears that this poking and jabbing as demonstrated, can provide an emotional release... an emotional release of yeah, whatever (!!) :shock: , in my opinion.

This thread may be a nice one to consider for many reasons: Should a massage hurt?

Regarding emotional release work, I have found that it takes a steady and moderate pressure with a full hand to be most effective.

I didn't like that one bit...it appears he's touching Mu points. I have never seen any type of work done by a jerk like that before. I wouldn't trust him with anything emotional. It looks like he had his sister or somebody sit for him.

I'm not the most knowledgeable person on energy work but this is what I get from this:

1) Not quit sure if it's unprofessional. Everyone works differently with different clients. I work in a PT studio and a lot of my clients really enjoy chatting and joking, it's a good break from the daily grind for them.

2) Pretty sure what he's doing doesn't make sense. It seems....Scammy.

I'm not so quick to dismiss such things. I've experienced the same things as the young woman and only found relief through a similar process, and I cried even harder than she did. Letting go hurts.

That is the power of placebo enhanced by the power of misdirection so frequently used by con men and magicians. If a person wants to believe something helped them for X reason, they will do so even if the facts indicate that X reason is utterly false and that far more conventional explanation is available.
