I dated an undercover police officer for a few months.I met him at the spa that he was investigating and he told me after a few minutes into the massage that he was a cop and at the end of the half hour he ask me out.
It was kinda convenient cause he would tell me where or when not to go to work.For alot of them being assigne to massage parlour duty is fun...they get paid to get massage acting like civilian and reporting on what was offer.Great job for a guy!!!It didn't cause any friction in our relationship cause we both knew what we were getting into and for me I never intended that relationship to get very serious.We are still friends.

But to be fair Leah, guys are being smarmy/wise-ass now because they were rooting for you to get free of the deadbeat boyfriend and now your saying you don't wanna break it off with him just not live with him. Continueing to pay your B/F's bills will always be both destructive to both you and him. You because your money will be not be able to go against your expenses like your condo and him because he's gonna be stuck in permanent man-boy state, old enough to have a girlfriend but not old enough to earn his keep in this world. Unless you stop it the cycle just keeps repeating.
The other point... that cop you like... do you still like him or do you now see him for what he really is, your adversary. He's a cog in the wheel of a system designed to take away your job... and income you need to pay for that new condo. He's doing his job and you are doing yours and they naturally go against each other.

If your b/f is indeed spending all of your money, why are you still with him? I say hook up with the bylaw officer, get him and his bylaw buddies to stop bothering your spa, and spend his money whenever you go out. After a month or so of not having to spend your own money whenever you go out on dates, you'll be surprised at how much you have saved up.

Hi rusty tromb!! I know, you're right. You know, in the 3 years that I've been with him, I gave him over $30,000. He always says he needs the money for rent, food, etc... and I just feel so sorry that I give it to him. I know it sounds like I have a horrible life with my BF but honestly, it hasn't been ALL bad. The passion was there (although fading somewhat now) and the sex is good. If you love him and feel that you're doing all the "giving" then my suggestion is get rid of him. I am still working on the idea whether or not it is a mind f**k post, either way it is a good story.

I agree with Indian Lover it really is about two issues.
The existing boyfriend and the potentially new boyfriend.

It appears I think that you have trust & resentment issues with the existing boyfriend and you may be staying with him because it is comfortable and/or convenient, either way it is only a period of time before splitsville is on the horizon. You may not even be aware of it yourself. Something to think about.
Perhaps if you think this is the case better to have a straight talk with your boyfriend about your feelings and make arrangements to move on, things are not likely going to get better on a long term basis. Just my take on it.

Regard the potential LE boyfriend, it is hard to imagine any long term future here in view of the power and control issues between the two of you. The rational is the two of you are at opposite ends of the spectrum, both emotionally and vocationally. He is dedicated to hurting the field you are in, and even if you changed occupations, it is not likely to change his mindset about you as it relates to his work. Bottom line, no future with Mr. LE only heartache and sorrow I am sorry to say is ahead on this course.

What you need is a emotional break from both existing boyfriend and Mr. LE to re-establish what you really want in a new relationship.

Sorry for not being more supportive, but that's just the way I see it.

I think there is a bigger ethical issue at stake here. It reminds me of a particular CSI episode where agent Nick Stokes starts seeing a escort in vegas played by Krista Allen. Even if your sessions are all within the law, will Nick be wondering if maybe you are offering any extras. It will be his duty to investigate and what if he finds evidence of impropriety. What is Nick to do? Ticket you? I don't think so. And what if Nick let's it slip during some intimate moments that there are planned raids at places where some of your other MPA friends work at. Do you warn them? or do you value the trust and love that Nick has given you and keep the info to yourself.

Oh Leah, your situation is a tough one, with a pontential for many pitfalls and heartbreak ahead.

I really don't get it. How can this guy be working but can't afford rent? Where is his money going, sounds to me like he has some sort of a problem because I'm sure he's paid a livable wage by the city.

No offense but even friends of mine who have worked for low wages have never had an eviction notice. I haven't read all of this thread so maybe it has been mentioned but if he can't make rent it makes me wonder if he has a drug, gambling or other addiction.

Leah you are busy enough supporting yourself, a relationship is a partnership of give and take and clearly this guy is just taking. Or at the very least the give and take doesn't sound close to being equal.

The way I see it is you probably don't plan on working in the biz forever and this guy is not helping you towards that goal. Don't waste your time on a deadbeat, you will never get that time or money back so better cut your loses now. At the very least you deserve better than this. If you have to take steps to get away from this guy put them in motion.

I think your friends have a shitty attitude. However, it may be the necessary attitude to have in order to survive the MP business. While it's true that some men probably do think of you as whackers and not worth anything more than someone to tug on them, I'd guess the majority realize that you're real people just doing a job. I know in the past that I would have been open to dating the right MP, but I would never ask one out myself. I think if you find a client that you'd like to see outside of work, it's your job to ask him out. We men just assume that most girls have the attitude that your friends have.
